I love going to concerts and seeing live music, but had never been thrilled by the idea of music festivals. One day of Governor’s Ball after a massive rain storm and I wasn’t sure the experience was worth the insanity…
But then came Newport. My friends and I bought 3-day tickets before the lineup was even announced. It was like Christmas morning everyday a new artist was added. The festival itself was so laid back and well run that the time spent away from the stages was just as enjoyable as the performances: good food, fun vendors, great views. There was even the Family Tent where artists were featured by doing short “pop-up” sets in between main stage changes.
Above is a little montage of my time at the festival, featuring a song by Ages and Ages called “No Nostalgia”. Enjoy (and go to Newport next year)!
Spellbinding, mesmerizing: these are the words that come to mind when watching this beautiful performance by Sarah Jarosz recorded by Mason Jar Music. The simple stirring of dust, catching the light that’s cascading through the windows, creates a dreamy suspended atmosphere, pulling the physical performance into the realm of the song.
Tomorrow I’ll be at NYC’s Governors Ball on Randall’s Island and I am stoked to hear so many great bands. After all the rain we had the past two days, it is going to be a mud pit, but it’ll be worth it! Below is a Spotify playlist I put together so I could make a final decision on which bands to see. Wish I could be at multiple stages at once!
