Until The Ribbon Breaks – “Pressure”
Seductive, heavy beats. Gritty, raw vocals. Until The Ribbon Breaks just came out of nowhere to show us how it’s done. The video isn’t far behind:
Luke Sital-Singh – “Bottled Up Tight”
Luke Sital-Singh has a voice to calm the most turbulent seas. Below is a single from the upcoming release of his second EP, Old Flint, due out April 15th.
Vance Joy – “Riptide”
This is the kind of song you can listen to on repeat and never want it to end. I’m sharing this live acoustic performance by Vance Joy instead of the stream because it is SO MUCH better live. Which is a complement in of itself.
Mutya Keisha Siobhan – “Lay Down in Swimming Pools (Kendrick Lamar cover)”
Mutya Keisha Siobhan give a woman’s take on Kendrick Lamar‘s “Swimming Pools (Drank)”:
Sir Sly – “Ghost”
Clever name. Smooth songs. Sir Sly, I like their vibe.
Video Release: AlunaGeorge – “Attracting Flies”
This ain’t no modern-day fairytale… Or is it? Check out AlunaGeorge’s video release for “Attracting Flies”.
AlunaGeorge – “Attracting Flies (Shift K3Y Remix)”
AlunaGeorge strikes again, and Shift K3Y kicks it up a notch. Check out the remix:
Fitz and The Tantrums – “Out Of My League”
Indie-motown? That exists? Just take Fitz and The Tantrums. Their newly released single below may lean towards indie-pop, but check out their 2010 album Pickin’ Up The Pieces on soundcloud and you’ll get the drift.
CHVRCHES – “The Mother We Share”
This trio from Glasglow have a synth sound like no other. Clean and catchy, dark and enchanting, CHVRCHES’ song “The Mother We Share” seems to have found a delicate balance between the dreamy sounds of synth and the pensive vocals of lead singer Lauren Mayberry. Coming in fifth on BBC’s Sound of 2013, they are definitely one to watch in the new year.
